Riley Simon featuring Carmen Smith

A lot of new burger joints have opened in Davao City and it's becoming really hard to choose which one is the best. These joints have their own special twists when it comes to grilling their burgers and its up to the customers to decide which ones are the best.

So, for my first burger joint review, I have Miss Carmen Smith with me... trying out Riley Simon Grilled Burger and Ribs!

YumYum for your TumTum! YuYu Cafe

Last October 10 (my birthday, just so you guys know...), my mom bought me a cake.

Now, most birthday cakes are those you buy at bakeshops and are covered in icing with the usual 'Happy Birthday, *insert name here*' written on the face of the cake.

Mine was special.

It was a whole Praline Cake from YuYu Cafe.

But this isn't really a post about my birthday. It's about YuYu Cafe.

Co-owned by two daughters of the city's mayor, Emerald Uy and Ciara Isabelle Uy, the cafe has been serving Tagumenos ever since July 8, 2010, the day the cafe opened.

Emerald Uy, or 'Adi', as she is also called, manages the kitchen. As a graduate of Culinary Arts at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, you can expect the food served to you at the cafe is of the utmost quality!

To put it simply, everything is delicious.

E-VERY-THING.

The cafe serves everything from starters to soups to main courses to desserts, but I'd like to focus on the heavenly cakes they offer.

Are you ready?

Do you see it, guys? Those heavenly, heavenly cakes. Don't you just want to grab at the screen and taste each and every one?

I know I do.

These delectable pastries are available at an affordable price range of P65 - P90, more or less. But trust me when I say it is WELL WORTH IT.

My personal favorites are the fresh fruit tart; an almond butter crust filled with vanilla bean custard and seasonal fresh fruits, and Praline Cake; a divine combination of chocolate ganache, chocolate chiffon, chocolate hazelnut mousse and ending in a crispy hazelnut base.

I'm not a huge chocolate fan but this one brings me to my knees, making me beg for more.

It was my birthday, we had a dinner prepared and YuYu Cafe's Praline Cake... and I was hungry.

You know what happened next.
